👑 VIP & Subscriptions

I purchased VIP but it didn't activate in the app

This is almost always a sync issue and is easy to fix:

  • Open the app and go to Profile → VIP
  • Tap Restore Purchases
  • Wait a few seconds — your VIP status should appear

If that doesn't work, make sure you're signed into the same account (Google Play / App Store) that you used to make the purchase. Still no luck? Email us at trivioly@gmail.com with your order receipt.

How do I cancel my VIP subscription?

Subscriptions are managed by your app store, not by Trivioly directly:

  • Android: Open the Google Play Store → tap your profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Trivioly → Cancel
  • iOS: Open Settings → tap your name → Subscriptions → Trivioly → Cancel Subscription

You'll keep VIP access until the end of the current billing period. We don't pro-rate refunds for the unused time.

Can I get a refund?

Refund requests are handled by the app store you purchased through, since they processed the payment.

If your case is unusual (technical issue blocking access, accidental duplicate purchase), email us and we'll do what we can to help advocate for the refund.

I'm a Founding VIP — what does that mean?

Founding VIP is a permanent badge for users who upgraded to VIP during the launch window. It's a thank-you for being an early supporter — your VIP benefits are the same as regular VIP, but the badge stays with your profile forever, even if you cancel and re-subscribe later.

👤 Account & Sign-in

I can't sign in to my account

A few things to try first:

  • Check your internet connection — sign-in needs an active connection
  • Make sure you're using the same sign-in method you signed up with (Google on Android, Apple on iOS, or email/password)
  • If you forgot your password, tap Forgot password? on the login screen and we'll email you a reset link
  • Force-close the app and reopen it

Still stuck? Email us with the email address on your account and a screenshot of the error.

How do I delete my account?

You can delete your account directly from inside the app:

  • Open the app and go to Profile → Settings
  • Tap Delete Account at the bottom
  • Confirm — this action is permanent

Account deletion permanently removes your profile, Brain Points, streaks, friends, and all personal data within 30 days. Some anonymized aggregate data may be retained for analytics, as described in our Privacy Policy. Active subscriptions must be cancelled separately through your app store.

Can I change my username?

Yes. Open Profile → Edit Profile and tap your username. Usernames must be unique, between 3 and 20 characters, and pass our profanity filter. If your preferred username is taken, you'll need to pick another.

I want to change the email on my account

For security reasons we don't currently support changing the sign-in email through the app. If you absolutely need to switch the email on an account (for example, you lost access to the original email), email us from both addresses if possible and we'll help you migrate manually.

📈 Progress & Scores

My streak reset even though I played yesterday

Daily streaks roll over at midnight in your local timezone. A few things that can cause an unexpected reset:

  • You played late at night and didn't complete a full daily round before midnight
  • Your device's timezone or system clock changed
  • You travelled across timezones — the day boundary moves with you
  • You used a Streak Shield (in your inventory) — it should have protected you; if it didn't, tell us

If you're sure none of these apply and your streak still reset, email us with your username and the date it happened. We can check the server logs.

My Brain Points didn't update after a quiz

Brain Points sync to the server when your device is online. If you played offline, your score is queued locally and will submit automatically the next time the app connects to the internet.

If your Brain Points are still missing 24 hours after you reconnected, email us with your username, the date and time of the quiz, and what category you were playing. We can usually trace and credit the missing points.

How does the leaderboard ranking work?

Leaderboards reset weekly on Monday at 00:05 UTC. Players are placed into leagues (Bronze, Silver, Gold, etc.), and the top players in each league get promoted while the bottom players are demoted. Your rank within a league is based on the Brain Points you've earned during that week — not your all-time total.

I lost progress after switching devices / reinstalling

Your progress is tied to your account, not your device. Make sure you sign in with the same account you used before — your streaks, Brain Points, VIP status, and category progress will all sync back automatically.

If you signed up as a guest (without linking an account), progress is stored locally and is lost when the app is uninstalled. We strongly recommend signing in with Google or Apple so this can't happen.

📚 Categories & Content

How do I change which categories I follow?

Tap any category circle on your home screen Living Tree, or open Profile → My Categories. Free users can follow up to 5 categories at a time and can swap one per week. VIP members can follow up to 7 and swap two per week.

I think a quiz answer is wrong

It happens — please tell us! On any quiz result screen, tap the small flag icon next to the question to report it. Include a short note explaining why you think the answer is wrong, and a source if you have one. We review every report and ship corrections in the next content update.

When do new questions get added?

We ship a new content batch roughly every three months. Updates download automatically in the background — no app update or reinstall needed. You'll see new facts and quizzes appear in your daily rotation the next time you play.

Why is some content marked VIP-only?

Every fact has a free core fact that everyone can read, plus a longer deep dive with extended context that's reserved for VIP members. VIP also unlocks a few exclusive trivia categories. The free experience is complete on its own — VIP just adds depth.

⚙️ Technical Issues

The app crashes when I open it

First, the basics:

  • Make sure you're on the latest version of Trivioly (check your app store)
  • Restart your phone — it sounds silly, it works half the time
  • Make sure your OS is up to date

If it still crashes, email us with: your phone model, OS version, and what you were doing right before the crash. If you can include a screen recording or screenshot, that's even better.

I'm not getting notifications

Check that notifications are enabled both in the app (Profile → Settings → Notifications) and in your phone's system settings (Settings → Apps → Trivioly → Notifications). Daily reminders, friend requests, and challenge invitations all use the same channel — if you turned one off, they're all off.

Rewarded ads aren't loading or showing the reward

Rewarded ads need a working internet connection and Google Play Services (Android) / Apple's ad framework (iOS) to be available. Try:

  • Switching from Wi-Fi to mobile data, or vice versa
  • Closing and reopening the app
  • Waiting 5 minutes — sometimes the ad network is just empty

If you watched an ad and didn't get the reward, that's a bug — email us with the date, time, and what you were trying to claim, and we'll credit the missed reward manually.

The app is running slow or freezing

Trivioly is designed to run on phones from 2018 onward. If it's lagging, try clearing the app cache (Android: Settings → Apps → Trivioly → Storage → Clear cache) — this won't affect your account or progress. On iOS, force-quit and reopen.

If performance is consistently bad, tell us your phone model and we'll dig in.

🔒 Privacy & Data

What information does Trivioly collect about me?

The full breakdown is in our Privacy Policy, but the short version: your email and username (for sign-in and the leaderboard), your quiz scores and learning progress (so we can sync across devices and rank you), and basic crash & analytics data (so we can fix bugs). We don't sell your data — ever.

How do I request a copy of my data (GDPR / CCPA)?

Email us at trivioly@gmail.com from the address on your account, with the subject line "Data Export Request." We'll send you a JSON file with everything we have on you within 30 days, free of charge.

You can also request that we delete your data — see "How do I delete my account?" above.

Is Trivioly safe for kids?

Trivioly is rated for ages 12+. We don't directly target children under 13, our content is moderated and family-friendly, and we use a profanity filter on usernames. We do show ads in the free version (parental controls on the device can disable these), and VIP is a paid subscription that requires app-store-level purchase confirmation.
